Story Behind the Product

Padre Pio, commonly known as St. Pio of Pietrelcina, was an Italian friar, priest, stigmatist and mystic, now venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church. Born Francesco Forgione, he was called Pius when he entered the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin.

In 1956, Padre Pio founded the House for the Relief of Suffering, a hospital that serves 60,000 patients a year.

He died on September 23, 1968, and was canonized in 2002.
