Story & Symbolism: Earlier than the 7th century, St. Patrick had turned out to be a legendary figure and his legends have continued to grow. The best-recognized miracle accredited to Saint Patrick involves the banishment of snakes from Ireland into the sea to their destruction. St. Patrick himself wrote that he raised people from the death of at least 33 men, stated as well in 12th-century hagiography. Some of whom are said to have been deceased for a couple of years. He also reportedly prayed for the provision of food for hungry sailors traveling by land through a desolate area, and a herd of swine miraculously appeared. Saint Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland, is one of the world's most beloved saints and the inspiration for the popular St. Patrick's Day holiday, held on his feast day of March 17th. He died on March 17, approximately 493, and reportedly was no darkness in Ireland for twelve days after his death. He’s buried in the graveyard next to Down Cathedral located in Downpatrick, Northern Ireland.
