Story & Symbolism:
Saint Francis Xavier, patron saint of missionaries and one of the members of the Jesuit Order, pursued religious converts across Asia in the 1500s. With the help of his friend Ignatius of Loyola, he dedicated himself to religious service and became one of the members of the Jesuit order. Most of his life has been spent on missions in places such as Japan and India. He was 46 when he died on Shanghuan Island, China, on December 3, 1552.
Miracle: Francis Xavier had the capability to deliver miracles and to restore the faith of the Roman Catholic Church. His talents in this painting have been used as propaganda as part of his canonization trials. His desire to revive the dead made him closer to the figures of heaven.
