Story & Symbolism:
After providing for her children, who had all been raised in the fear of God, Saint Judith of Prussia, with the permission of her confessor, sold the rich clothes and jewels she had previously worn in line with her rank, as well as all of her fine furniture. She joined the Third Order of St Francis and donned the basic religious garb. She committed her entire life to it. She devoted her life to caring for the sick, particularly lepers, and the poor, whom she visited in their hovels and provided with whatever they needed.
