Story & Symbolism:
Benjamin was imprisoned for a year for his Christian faith before being released on the condition that he refrain from preaching or speaking about his faith. Through an ambassador, the Eastern Roman Emperor Theodosius II obtained his release. Benjamin, on the other hand, declared that it was his duty to preach about Christ and that he could not remain silent. As a result, Benjamin was brutally tortured until his death in 424, with "sharpened reeds [being] stuck under the nails of his fingers and toes.".
