Our Lady of Fatima Prayer

Living Out The Message of Fatima Today

By Karen Riobo

The miracle of Fatima has been a warning sign of love for the World. In the course of six apparitions to three humble children in Fatima, Portugal, God shared through Our Loving Mother a message that has changed history. Between May 13 - October 13, 1917, Our Lady instructed the children to pray the Rosary every day to bring peace to the world and to bring an end to the war. She asked them to pray for the conversion of Russia, to do penance, and that God wanted the world to have a devotion to Her Immaculate Heart.

The church has responded to this message with faith and openness, this devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary continues to spread among believers. God in His mercy and love for us, has revealed his mighty power through the miracle of Fatima.

How can we live out the message of Fatima today?

“In everything you can, offer a sacrifice as an act of reparation for sins by which He is offended, and of supplication for the conversion of sinners. Thus draw peace upon your country. I am its Guardian Angel, the Angel of Portugal. Above all, accept and endure with submission the suffering which the Lord will send you.” ( Our Lady to the Children )

Our Lady is calling us for a deeper conversion every day, to love God above all and not offend Him, to love her Immaculate Heart, and to love our neighbor. She requires that we pray the rosary every day for these souls that have no one to pray for them, that are lost and left at the fate of the evil one. We can be proactive for our World to obtain the peace that we desperately desire.

Prayer

In the apparitions, Our Lady suggested the daily prayer of the Rosary, in which she instructed the children to include the prayer for the conversion of sinners after each decade.

“ Oh, My Jesus forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell, lead our souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of thy Mercy.

This simple prayer can bring even our family members to the Heart of Jesus and Mary while we also pray for our conversion.

Penance

Our Lady also asked that we offer to God sacrifices for the conversion of sinners and to make reparation for sins against her Immaculate Heart.

Instead of complaining about our sufferings, we can make it a sacrifice that will be pleasing to God and give it a greater purpose for the sanctification of our souls. You shall recite this small prayer:

“My Jesus, it is for the love of You, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.” ( Our lady to the Children)

Peace

Our Lady promised peace would come to Russia if it were to be consecrated to her Immaculate Heart along with the practice of the devotion of the First 5 Saturdays of the Month. Many say that Russia has not been converted because we have failed to comply with the 5 Saturday devotion. ( only God knows).

However, this is the case for many of the times we have tried to practice a new devotion; we give up. Let us take heed and find a community that is also pursuing the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and so we can persevere.

There is one thing many Saints have in common: true devotion to The Rosary and Our Holy Mother. Let us feel encouraged just like the obedient children of Fatima to pray, to do penance so that we can obtain the peace that our hearts and the world desires.

Let us pray for each other as Our Lord commands it :

“The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself”- Matt 22,39
