Saint Story:
St. Junipero Serra entered the Franciscan Order on September 14, 1730, as a lecturer in philosophy prior to his ordination to the priesthood. He joined the missionary college of San Fernando, Mexico in 1749 and served in Sierra Gorda Indian Missions, North of Queretaro for nine years, where he studied the language of the Pame Indians and translated the catechism into their language.
