The Holy Family includes Child Jesus, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and Saint Joseph. The Holy Family's veneration was formally begun in the 17th century by Saint François de Laval, the first bishop of New France. Both gospels, which describe the nativity of Jesus, recognize that he was born in Bethlehem and before their family lived in Nazareth.
