Story and Symbolism

St. Peregrine came from a rich man at the beginning of 1260. He left his past life as a man of violence and anger when he was in youth, and gave himself to help the poor and the sick. Peregrine spent a lot of his time in prayer before the crucified Jesus, asking God to cure him if it was God's will to do so. He  was canonized in 1726.
