📖 Story & Feast Day

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, celebrated on August 15, is a solemn dogma of the Catholic Church and a Holy Day of Obligation. It teaches that the Blessed Virgin Mary, at the end of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory—a sign of her purity and singular role in salvation history.

This belief was formally defined by Pope Pius XII on November 1, 1950, in the apostolic constitution Munificentissimus Deus. He taught that Mary’s Assumption is a natural consequence of her being preserved from original sin, and that “it was fitting that she who carried the Savior in her womb should not see bodily corruption.”

The Feast of the Assumption invites all believers to contemplate the hope of resurrection, the glory of eternal life, and the dignity of the human body. Mary’s Assumption prefigures the resurrection of the faithful and assures us of her continuing intercession as Queen of Heaven.

This beautiful prayer card honors this mystery and invites devotion, reminding us of Mary's closeness to God and her powerful role as our spiritual Mother, guiding us always toward her Son, Jesus Christ!
