Story and Symbolism

Saint Camillus was a religious order devoted to the care of the ill, a Roman Catholic priest from Italy. He is not likely an aspirant for sainthood due to his extreme love for gambling. In 1746, He was canonized and declared as the patron saint of the sick with Saint John of God. He is also the patron saint of hospitals, nurses, and sick doctors.
