Story and Symbolism

Saint Ignatius of Loyola is the patron saint of retreats. He was a Spanish Basque Catholic theologian and priest, and the first Superior General at Paris in 1541. Regardless of the adversity of losing his mother, Saint Ignatius was still a member of the local aristocracy and was raised accordingly, centering his spiritual life on the essential foundations of Christianity.
