Story & Symbolism:
Saint Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin, also known as Juan Diego, a native of Mexico, is the first indigenous Catholic saint from the Americas. For the rest of his life, Juan Diego lived in a hut next to the church built in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary and took care of the pilgrims who came to the shrine. He was buried in the church, and it is still popular to see his tilma in Guadalupe's Basilica of Our Lady.
