Saint Thomas More, was born on February 7, 1478, London, England He was an English humanist and statesman, chancellor of England. He was beheaded on July 6 1535 for refusing to accept King Henry VIII as head of the Church of England even though Henry regrets the loss of More, he showed his authority and More's punishment to mere decapitation. More made his last statement, announcing that he was "the king's good servant, but God's first." He was beatified by Pope Leo XIII in 1886, and was canonized by Pope Pius XI on May 19, 1935.
