Standing Brass Altar Crucifix, 15.75" – Budded Cross, Made in Italy

Cast in Italy and finished in polished brass, this standing crucifix rises 15.75 inches on a detailed weighted base. The arms end in budded tips — three rounded lobes at each terminal, a form the Church has used for centuries to figure the Trinity at every extremity of the Cross. It's a small detail, and it's the reason this reads as a liturgical object rather than a decorative one.

For the home altar

At this height the crucifix holds the center of a home altar, a prayer corner, or a side chapel without crowding it. A note on standing crucifixes

A crucifix — the cross bearing the corpus of Christ — is distinct from a plain cross, and the Church asks that a crucifix be visible on or near the altar at Mass. Care of polished brass

Dust with a soft dry cloth. Avoid abrasive polishes, which cut through the finish, and don't immerse the piece. If candles are burned nearby, remove wax with gentle warmth rather than scraping.
