Brass Home Altar Set – Standing Crucifix & 2 Angel Candlesticks, Made in Italy

The hardest part of setting up a home altar is not deciding to have one. It's not knowing what to buy, or whether the pieces you find will look right together once they arrive.

This set answers that. A 15.75" standing crucifix in polished Italian brass, flanked by two 9.75" kneeling-angel candlesticks — the classic arrangement, in the proportions that actually work. The candlesticks sit at roughly 60% of the crucifix height, which is where the eye expects them, and their relief is cast on both faces so each angel can be turned to incline toward the center.

All three pieces are cast and finished in Italy by the same workshop, so the brass tone and finish match. Assembled from separate sources, they often don't.

How to set up a home altar

You need less than you think. A small table, shelf, or dresser top against a wall — ideally somewhere the household passes daily rather than a room nobody enters. A white or seasonal-colored cloth if you want one. The crucifix at the center, set back. A candlestick on either side, set forward slightly so the arrangement has depth.

From there it grows as your family's devotion does: an image of Our Lady or a patron saint, a Bible or prayer book, a holy water font by the door, seasonal additions for Advent and Lent. There's no rubric governing a domestic altar — it's a fixed place for prayer, and its only job is to be seen every day.

The pieces

Standing crucifix, 15.75" — Polished brass on a detailed weighted base, with budded cross tips: three rounded lobes at each terminal, an old form figuring the Trinity at every extremity of the Cross. 15.75"H × 7"W × 4"D, approx. 3 lbs.

Angel candlesticks, 9.75" (two) — A kneeling angel holds each candle socket, gazing upward. Relief worked on both faces so the pair mirrors rather than repeats. Takes a standard taper (socket diameter: 7/8").

Care of polished brass

Soft dry cloth. No abrasive polish, which cuts the finish. Remove wax with gentle warmth, never by scraping.
